Solar park Ballumerbocht
After the first successful years of production of Solar Park Ameland, calls were made to realize another solar park. But connecting a solar park places high demands on the local electricity grid. There was insufficient room for additional electricity production.
The solution is a solar park that is directly linked to a large battery, so that the energy from the solar panels can be stored if it is not directly used locally. The beginning of Energy Roundabout Ballumerbocht. In the long term, the installation can be expanded with an electrolyser for production of hydrogen.
- At the beginning of 2021, the AEC, Wetterskip Fryslân and the municipality of Ameland will have a declaration of intent signed to jointly realize a solar park with battery on the former landfill in the Ballumerbocht.
- At the end of 2021, all three participating parties mentioned decided in their highest body to agree to this project and to set up a BV for this purpose.
- The contract was awarded to develop and realize the entire project in 2022.
- The preparatory permits and other work started in 2022.
- The solar park is expected to generate electricity before the summer of 2024.
The members of the AEC will also become 1/3 owners of this second solar park.
