Solar park Ameland
Ameland solar park was the largest solar park in the Netherlands for a while when it opened in 2017. North of Ballum, on a piece of land near the airport, 23,000 solar panels have been installed on ten hectares.
About Solar Park Ameland
The owners of the solar park are energy company Eneco (1/3), members of the Amelander Energy Cooperative AEC (1/3) and the municipality of Ameland (1/3). The park is directly linked to the electricity grid. On an annual basis, Zonnepark Ameland produces enough for the electricity use of all 1,700 households on the island. Ameland is expected to put a second solar park into use before the summer of 2024.
