On Ameland, the purchase of a hybrid heat pump has been made extra attractive. In addition to a government subsidy, Amelanders could receive an additional premium through GasTerra. The local installers played an important role in the installation of the hybrid heat pumps.
133 hybrid heat pumps installed
About a hundred private homes are equipped with hybrid heat pumps. In addition, hybrid heat pumps have also been installed in homes owned by the Municipal Housing Company.
About a hybrid heat pump
A heat pump makes it possible to heat a home sustainably. It is a sustainable alternative to a gas-fired central heating boiler. Such a heat pump only needs maximum power a few times a year: only when it is very cold or when a lot of hot water is required. That peak power makes the installation relatively expensive. The solution is a hybrid heat pump. This is a combination of a small electric heat pump and a regular gas-fired HR boiler. The boiler currently uses natural gas and will use green gas in the future.
Intermediate step
A hybrid heat pump also works well in homes that are not yet perfectly insulated. For the vast majority of the year, the heat pump has enough power to keep the home warm. On really cold days the boiler comes on when hot water is needed. The residents don’t notice this. The advantages: a flexible heating system with a high efficiency, which can still provide a lot of heat if necessary.
