In recent years, the municipality of Ameland was a partner in the SAVE project. The SAVE project stands for SAmen For the Energy Transition and focuses on increasing support for and participation of citizens and companies in the energy transition. A subject that we also pay a lot of attention to on Ameland.
Municipality of Ameland and SAVE
The municipality of Ameland wants to be a leader in the energy transition and be CO₂ neutral by the year 2035. On Ameland, the energy transition does not start with technology, but with the residents. Together with residents, companies and the municipality, we shape the transition from the bottom up. In the SAVE project, Ameland was responsible for the development and implementation of participation approaches.
On Ameland, the municipality wants to ensure that the island can largely meet its own energy needs in a sustainable way. This not only concerns the generation of sustainable electricity, but especially the heat supply for all houses on the island.
Results SAVE project
In the context of SAVE, information material has been developed, concrete advice has been given to citizens and companies and various measures have been implemented. We still use the insights from the SAVE project in the Ameland Smart Heated process.
The SAVE project
SAVE focused on the (better) functioning of the energy transition as an overarching system between the population, the economy and local governments. The focus of the project was on the expansion of renewable energy and hydrogen applications.
Partners
The partners of the SAVE project were FME, MARIKO GmbH, Landkreis Leer, the municipality of Ameland, NettCon Energy GmbH, Nordseeheilbad Borkum GmbH, Hanzehogeschool Groningen and the municipality of Leeuwarden.
