Report on village meeting geothermal energy

On Tuesday, December 12, 2023, the municipality of Ameland organised an information meeting about geothermal energy in Eetcafé de Boerderij in Ballum. The information meeting is part of the Ameland process to arrive at an alternative to natural gas in consultation with the island.

After an introduction by Luc van Tiggelen from the municipality of Ameland, there was a presentation by Harry Hollander from Ghiocel, a company specialized in the detection and extraction of geothermal heat.

After the break, Erwin de Boer and Luc van Tiggelen talked about the steps the municipality has taken since the previous round of village talks in early 2023 and what is still needed to make the switch to natural gas-free heat.

Follow-up

At the beginning of 2024, the municipality of Ameland will organize at least three more village evenings. These evenings will focus on heating networks, companies and the heating law, electrification as a (possible) alternative to natural gas and on SeaQurrent's Tidal Kite. This will be communicated as soon as dates and times are known.
