On the island of Mallorca, the realization of the green hydrogen project in the Green Hysland project is progressing steadily, according to the recent fourth newsletter. The majority of the installations are expected to be operational in 2023.
The aim of the Green Hysland project is to produce at least 300 tonnes of green hydrogen from solar energy in Mallorca and to distribute this hydrogen to various end users on the island. The underlying idea is that green hydrogen can support the European islands in their energy transition and accelerate their ‘decarbonization’. The experiences gained on Mallorca are interesting for many other islands. Ameland is also involved in Green Hysland and is now also experimenting with hydrogen applications.
