Insulate, ventilate and moisture

In well-insulated houses, seams and cracks are well sealed. But sufficient ventilation is also important: it reduces the moisture content and the amount of harmful substances in the home.

When applying extra insulation, always pay attention to ventilation. For example, install ventilation grilles if you use HR++ glass or triple glazing. Wind pressure-controlled ventilation grilles are comfortable: when there is a lot of wind, they close a little more, and when there is little wind, they open a little more. This saves energy and you feel less draft in your home.

Vapor barrier

Prevent moisture problems by always creating a ‘vapor barrier’ layer on the warm side when applying insulation to the inside of a wall or roof. Vapor barrier film prevents water vapor from condensing in the insulation layer. By keeping moisture outside the insulation layer, it remains dry and retains its insulating effect. In some cases, however, applying such a foil is not recommended because there is already a foil in the roof. You have to be careful, especially with flat roofs. It is best to insulate this on the outside. If in doubt, ask for expert advice!
